GOP unity (and why I’m asking for your vote but not your endorsement)
Election for the new Chair of the Broward County Republican Executive Committee (BREC) is scheduled for 7 PM on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Sheraton Suites Hotel
Unifying the Broward County Republican Executive Committee (BREC) will be my first and most important goal as your Chairman.
- Candidates for BREC Chair have traditionally solicited and published lists of supporters. Although the lists are frequently disputed by those whose names are published on them, these lists of supporters help shore up support before the election. Unfortunately, the lists create nothing but hard feelings before and after the election. I have spoken to many BREC members asking for your support. However, I will not publish your names. I encourage other candidates for BREC Chair to do the same.
- I want to open the BREC meetings and books to all BREC members. As your BREC Chairman, I will encourage more open financial reporting, so that members can more easily know the source and disposition of BREC funds. BREC meetings should be open to all Republicans and members of the media. I will encourage abolition of the rule that bans video recordings.
- I will encourage creation of an expanded Board, calling on the expertise of Republican friends beyond the current Board structure. The vision of the GOP needs to reach beyond the limitations of the official Board. This expanded Board would be reasonably open to all BREC members. If this concept sounds familiar, it is. This isn’t my idea. I’ve heard it many times in the past, but have never seen it successfully implemented in recent BREC history.
